Scope of Work:

The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), located at 10240 Kingsway Avenue NW in Edmonton, Alberta, has been identified by Hospital and Surgical Health Services (HSHS) as requiring upgrades in the Diagnostic Treatment Centre (DTC) building, Operating Theatres 1 to 6 and selected adjacent support rooms, to accommodate modernized and integrated Operating Room (OR) equipment in alignment with the ASI program objectives. The project will deliver the following major elements:

Operating Theatre 1-5 (will remain the same footprint):

  • Renovation to integrate new OR equipment including booms, specialized electrosurgical console cabinets and overbed surgical lights. 
  • Replacement of furniture in room. 
  • Removal/replacement of existing millwork cabinets and desks within the OR. Glassed in cabinets in ORs 1-4 will remain. OR 5 and 6 require new built in cabinets for sterile supply storage. 
  • Replace existing wall protection (White rock) and flooring affected or damaged by the renovation.

Operating Theatre 6: 

  • Renovation to integrate new OR equipment including booms, specialized electrosurgical console cabinets and overbed surgical lights, 
  • Renovation includes enlargement for large equipment and future robot. 
  • Replace or upgrade existing wall protection (White rock) and flooring. 
  • Replacement of furniture in room. Construction of wall mounted storage cabinet for sterile supplies. 
  • Construction of laminar flow system.

Sub-sterile Rooms: 

  • Removal of existing millwork and replacement with stainless steel wire carts. 
  • Renovation to sub-sterile room to accommodate new technology/computer system rack and enclosure. 
  • Replace or upgrade existing wall protection (White rock) and flooring.
