Due to the 2023 floods in the Whitecourt area, the riverbanks are unstable and are being undercut, posing a risk to the nearby Cutbanks Road and Old Ferry Loop Road. In-stream work is required to stabilize the banks, primarily consisting of installing riprap below the high-water mark. For the duration of the project, erosion and sedimentation controls must be in place to mitigate the risk of sediment input into the watercourse.
